As you are hopefully aware, the Diocesan motto (our WHY statement) is "To experience and share Christ’s love in all circumstances and to all people so that the family of Christ, the kingdom of God, is further established.” However, what does it mean to further the kingdom of God? We seek to transform our lives so that we faithfully follow Christ in everything we do. As we transform ourselves, we shall influence those around us, and the ripples will spread throughout our Diocese, all of northern Alberta. What does such a society look like? A society which God encourages us to pursue (as per many references in the bible) is known as shalom (health, wholeness, wellness, prosperity, peace, completeness, full relationship with each other and with God, creating communities filled with healthy and vibrant individuals following the Way of Christ).
The bishop would like your help. At Synod, he plans to bring this up — and he would like to know what that means to each of you. Therefore, before Synod please fill in the Shalom Questionnaire (You can click on the underlined link or you may need to copy and paste the link into your web browser: https://athabasca-shalom-synod.diocese-of-a-0651.chatgpt.site/). All responses are anonymous, and all questions are optional. If you cannot fill in using your computer, you may fill out a paper copy and give it to the Diocesan Administrative Assistant (understanding the bishop will have to look at it after Synod), or email your answers directly to the Diocesan Administrative Assistant at dioath@telusplanet.net (knowing that this may identify who you are to the Diocesan Administrative Assistant).
Before Synod, the bishop intends to look at the collected responses and use them to inform his conversation.
Thank you very much, and the shalom of Christ be with you, now and always.
