Greetings beloved people of the Diocese of Athabasca:

It is with regret and with gratitude that I announce that the Rev. Dr. Blessing Shambaré will be leaving St. Peter’s Ecumenical Church in Slave Lake to take up the position of Rector of St. John the Evangelist, Edmonton (https://www.sjechurch.ca/), where the Rev. Dr. Maryann formerly resided before she joined us in Grande Prairie!
Blessing has been a great blessing to the parish of St. Peter’s and to this diocese, and I know all of you join me in thanking him for his many, many contributions over the years, as well as praying that his time in Edmonton be a blessing for the congregation, for him, and for his family.
Please keep Blessing, Florence, Mukundi, Mitsi, and Mako in your prayers as they navigate the next few months of their transition.  Blessing’s last service at St. Peter’s will be July 6, after which he will be on vacation until taking up his post at St. John the Evangelist.  However, he will be joining us at our diocesan summer camp (July 31 to Aug 3) as our worship coordinator.
Blessing, thank you so much for your ministry to us and with us.  May our good Lord Jesus Christ surround you and your family with His presence, and may our Lord God keep you as the apple of His eye, in the palm of His hand.  Amen.
